On a rare trip away from London, the Choir of the Chapel Royal at Hampton Court are visiting Tunbridge Wells to present a programme of celebratory music to mark the 400th anniversary of the Accession of Charles I. Just two days after the actual date (27th March 1625) when James I died and Charles I came to the throne, this event is accompanied by an exhibition of artefacts relating to the King and the church.

Come along to Sinfonia Smith Square at 7.30pm on Saturday 12 April and hear an epic concert that unites three much-loved classical works that open up new ways of seeing. Conductor Adrian Varela is at the helm. We're performing: Also Sprach Zarathustra by Strauss - ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ famously used the opening of this piece for its climactic moments. Prélude à l’Après-midi d’un Faune by Debussy - this erotically explicit work caused a scandal at its premiere. Pines of Rome by Respighi - the composer pays homage to the unchanging beauty of the pine trees of the Roman landscape. We can't wait to see you in April!
