‘Visions from Earth’ LCO
‘Visions from Earth’ LCO
Come along to Sinfonia Smith Square at 7.30pm on Saturday 12 April and hear an epic concert that unites three much-loved classical works that open up new ways of seeing.
Conductor Adrian Varela is at the helm.
We're performing:
Also Sprach Zarathustra by Strauss - ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ famously used the opening of this piece for its climactic moments.
Prélude à l’Après-midi d’un Faune by Debussy - this erotically explicit work caused a scandal at its premiere.
Pines of Rome by Respighi - the composer pays homage to the unchanging beauty of the pine trees of the Roman landscape.
We can't wait to see you in April!

International Organ Day – Hampton Court Palace
International Organ Day – Hampton Court Palace
Part of the Royal College of Organists 'Play the Organ Year' and on International Organ Day, we will hold a celebration of the chapel organ on Saturday 26th April, led by Joshua Simoes, our Assistant Director of Music. We will begin with the organ in its prinicple liturgical context as Mr Simoes accompanies the Eucharist at 1230. This is followed by a talk on how the organ works (with some show-and-tell!) and some of the history of our instrument. All is concluded with a short recital. You are welcome to join for the service, which is free as all of our services are, and to stay for the talk and recital.
